Report: Thomas Tuchel could breathe new life into Tiémoué Bakayoko at Chelsea after Napoli loaner
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel could give midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko another chance at the club this summer, according to reports in Italy.
Bakayoko is currently on loan at Napoli until the end of the season, but it has been reported in Italy that they will not seek to discuss a permanent agreement for the Frenchman this summer.
He will see the 26-year-old’s return to Stamford Bridge, but his future at the club remains far from certain.
However, a report from Calciomercato, via Sports witness, claims Bakayoko could end up staying in London and have a chance to impress Tuchel when he returns to Cobham this summer.
If Bakayoko does eventually leave, there is also a “market opportunity” for Italian clubs who have had loan spells at AC Milan and Napoli.
Tuchel has remained coy about whether Chelsea will invest in the squad this summer and wait to assess the situation closer to the window.
He said: “Honestly, we have to wait. This is another strange situation with the pandemic in the world. It is necessary that we as a club have to adapt and be patient. Are there even a market? What does it look like? What can we invest in? Are there even chances of making money? Is there any interest in our players? that other clubs have the ability to buy us players? Are we able to buy and do we want to?
“So the situation is not clear and so for me it is better to be patient and I agree with the club not to lose our minds. We have to fully trust the guys that we have.
“We have eight decisive weeks ahead full of decisive matches in which we can achieve three big goals for us. My confidence and my full focus is on the players who are here.
“For everything else we will have time. Now is the time for the players to show that we can trust them. Am I a happy manager right now? Yes, I am because I have a full squad , I’m in a top club and I have a better team, so I’m very relaxed.
