Radiation Resistant COTS DC-DC Converters for Space Power Onboard Small Orbiting Satellites Introduced by VPT

BLACKSBURG, Virginia – VPT Inc., a HEICO company of Blacksburg, Virginia, introduces the VSC series of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) DC-DC converters for use on small satellites orbiting in space.

The VSC Series has been characterized for Total Ionizing Dose (TID) performance, including Low Dose Rate (LDR) and for Single Event Effects in accordance with the Radiation Harshness Assurance (RHA) scheme of VPT.

The series is designed for relatively small satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and NASA Class D missions where the balance between cost and guaranteed performance is critical.

The VSC series of DC-DC converters range from 5 to 30 watts of output power and include single and dual 3.3, 5, 12, and 15 volt outputs with a 15 to 50 volt input range with a transient capacity of 80 volts.

The VSC series is radiation hardened to 42 MeV/mg/cm2 and guaranteed to 30 MeV/mg/cm2 for SEE and tested to 50 krad(Si) and guaranteed to 30 krad(Si) for TID.

A range of input EMI filters are available to meet MIL-STD-461 or equivalent conducted emissions requirements. For more information, contact VPT online at www.vptpower.com.
