Free STD and HIV test available in Tallahassee April 30
In honor of Testing Month, Planned Parenthood Clinic in Tallahassee is hosting free sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV testing on Friday, April 30.
Walk-ins are welcome at 2618 West Tennessee St. in Tallahassee, but appointments are available online or by calling 1-800-230-PLAN.
In a press release, Planned Parenthood said the COVID-19 pandemic has hampered routine STI testing according to an investigation by the National Coalition of Directors of STI.
The healthcare provider cited statistics from the Florida Department of Health reporting chlamydia as the most reported STI in the state with more than 105,058 cases in 2018.
Tallahassee was ranked at number 14, on the list of 100 cities – the highest in Florida with 1,502 cases of STDs per 100,000 people. The capital has recorded 64 cases of HIV, 3,342 cases of chlamydia, 1,031 cases of gonorrhea and 20 cases of syphilis.
“Even during a pandemic, we know that the sexual and reproductive health needs of our patients cannot wait. Getting tested for STIs is an essential part of staying healthy and taking care of your well-being, ”said Lillian Tamayo, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of South, East and North Florida.
